Keith’s Bets, Week 4

Oh, oh pick me, pick me to pick your big winners this weekend!

-Keith Lofton

For those of you that don’t know me, I’m the guru you’ve been waiting for. The guy that is going to lead you to the promised land when it comes to betting lines in college football (NFL too if you need me). I’m going to provide you with a few solid picks this weekend that I love. Sticking to the Heisman theme, I’ll shoot you a few picks from some early season stiff-armers and their squads. You can always count on a Heisman to bring you straight cash homie! Let’s dive in.

 #16 TCU at #6 Oklahoma St (-13)

Mason Rudolph has the stat line, the squad and the sidekick in James Washington to get him to NYC. Oklahoma St opens up their Big 12 schedule this weekend at home against #16 TCU and former two-week Heisman front runner Kenny “Trill” Hill. I don’t see TCU being able to keep up with the Cowboys and their gunslinging ways. I fully expect Rudolph to keep the vertical game peaking and pick apart TCU all day long at home. Crowd noise and a shot to sneak into the top-4 have this team motivated to go out and dominate. Rudolph keeps revving his hype train with 3-4 TD’s and another 400 yards passing while Kenny is just another forgotten Heisman hopeful with a good performance but not enough. Oklahoma St. covers, 48-28 final.

#17 Mississippi St at #11 Georgia (-5)

This game got juicy in a hurry, huh? Big upset on the road for UGA going up to South Bend two weeks ago and then Mississippi St absolutely dominating LSU has put this game on everyone’s radar. Nick Fitzgerald is following Dak Prescott’s footsteps of polishing a Heisman candidacy and a game against a good defense to open up their road SEC schedule would be the perfect spot to do so. I see this as a Dak-Prescott-at-LSU in 2014 or the Johnny-Football-at-‘Bama game that vaulted both front and center into the Heisman convo. Can Fitz put on a show and put himself on that same map? I think so.  I’m taking Miss St +5 and I think they have what it takes to steal one on the road. In this matchup I’m taking the road Bull(dogs) 28-24, if you’re keeping track that’s a sneaky ML bet. Bias alert!  After living in Atlanta the last 6 years, I’m a closet UGA hater and I’ll be at Samford to watch the upset special.

#4 Penn St (-12.5) at Iowa

I know we’re all thinking upset special, trap game and all the above, Penn St has virtually dominated their first 3 games and hardly unleashed their weapons. Saquan Barkley has 38 carries through 3 games. He’s fresh and ready to unleash and capable of toting 38 carries in a game. He is the top legit RB threat at taking the Heisman home this year. A place it hasn’t been in some time. He’s still scoring touchdowns and I fully expect him to continue to do so. Last time PSU went to Iowa they won 38-14, I predict it’s somewhere close to that on Saturday. Barkley and McSorley keep the ball rolling and win 31-13 at Iowa.

UNLV at Ohio St (-40.5)

This is more of a story about a Heisman candidate of yesterday in JT Barrett (he’s still in college? WOW, I feel like he’s been playing for 8 years) I simply can’t take the Buckeyes -40.5 here. UNLV has proved they can score some points. Meanwhile Ohio St just doesn’t look to be stacked on offense to be able to blow a team out by 40 and if they do I think they give up 2-3 scores to the Rebels. UNLV is 4th nationally with their rushing attach at 350 yards per game and they’ve scored 40+ in both games. Also touting a game-breaker in Devonte Boyd, I expect UNLV to get on the board. I’ll take UNLV to cover the +40.5. Final score 45-17 Ohio St.

Friday Night Special!  Virginia at Boise St (-12)

Virginia’s one road game they got beat up by Indiana 34-17 (insert yikes emoji). Boise at home is really good and it’s Friday night. I just watched Virginia treat UConn like it was a bowl game. Great win guys. Now good luck on the ‘Smurf Turf’ in front of some wild fellas and some of the best looking college girls (a friend told me) on a Friday night after traveling across the country. With Cozart or Rypien at the helm I see the Broncos leaning on the run game and holding court at home 28-14 to cover. One more hot tip, stay away from the other Friday night game.

#22 SDSU (-3.5) at Air Force

You beat Stanford and this the respect you get? Hmmm!!!  I know Air Force is tough and the option helps limit teams to big scoring but SDSU is legit. They have a defense that flies around and can limit the run game enough and their rushing offense will keep Air Force off the field. I see the Aztecs covering here 27-21 and your shiny new (Rashaad) Penny having a strong game to get the Heisman party started back up in San Diego State.  Running back pedigree lives on in San Diego!

Nevada at #18 Washington State (-28)

Nevada is not good; Washington St is a high powered offense that will be looking to steamroll into PAC-12 play. Nevada is starting a true freshman in his first road start meanwhile Luke Falk is back at the helm for the Cougars. Mike Leach and Co. start their season 4-0 for the first time in 16 years. 48-7 blowout.

But wait there’s more,  WVU (-22.5) at Kansas

Bottom line, Kansas is terrible. That’s all. Good enough? Ya, book it!
